More than 500 international empirical studies of the impact of cultural education were analysed for the purposes of this study. The results show that certain artistic activities influence skills considered critical for innovation. Correlations were found for example with foreign language learning, verbal skills and geometrical thinking. Furthermore, there are indications that cultural education also increases learner motivation in other academic areas. On the basis of these findings, the study recommends strengthening cultural education and undertaking more thorough empirical research into its impact.
