Press release
Essen/Berlin, 04/18/2024

Since April 1, Nina Ohlmeier has been in charge of the Mercator Center Berlin (PZB) of Stiftung Mercator and is responsible for the non-profit organization’s political communication. The PZB is a place for exchange between civil society, politics, media and business in the capital.

Before joining Stiftung Mercator, Nina Ohlmeier headed the Political Communications department at Deutsches Kinderhilfswerk e.V. “We are delighted to have found an experienced manager in Nina Ohlmeier, who has an excellent understanding of how to provide professional impetus in political Berlin,” explains Dr Markus Piduhn, Commercial Director of Stiftung Mercator. She also brings with her a broad network in politics, the media and civil society. “These are the best prerequisites for further developing the PZB together with her team in terms of content and organization.”

At Deutsches Kinderhilfswerk e.V., Nina Ohlmeier was responsible for the strategy, coordination and practical implementation of political lobbying. This included comprehensive political monitoring, setting priorities and developing overarching communication concepts. She has been involved in politics for her entire professional career. In previous roles, she worked in the German Bundestag and political consulting.

Nina Ohlmeier has a background in European studies: she holds two Franco-German degrees, most recently in the master’s programme in Political Science – Affaires européennes/Affaires internationales – from the Freie Universität Berlin and the Institut d’études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po).
