Press release
Essen, 11/10/2023

Co-Managing Director Oliver Döhrmann will be leaving the RuhrFutur education initiative on December 31, 2023, having reached a mutual agreement with associates.

“It is with great regret that we do without the services of Oliver Döhrmann. We would like to thank him on behalf all associates for his valuable work and leadership of the company during an important phase of its development,” explain the two Managing Directors of Stiftung Mercator, Wolfgang Rohe and Markus Piduhn. The Essen-based foundation founded RuhrFutur in 2013 together with municipalities in the Ruhr Metropolis, universities, and the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

“I look back on about six years at RuhrFutur with immense gratitude. Together with the numerous partners of the education initiative and a great team, we have been able to further develop education-related cooperation in the Ruhr region as well as launch pioneering projects and initiatives for an education system with more equal opportunities for all. I am convinced that RuhrFutur will continue to do so successfully. Personally, I am looking forward to new tasks in the future,” explains Oliver Döhrmann.

From January 2024, Markus Piduhn will run the business of RuhrFutur as sole Managing Director until further notice – in addition to his role as Executive Director of Stiftung Mercator.
