During his Fellowship, Matthias Spielkamp is exploring the extent to which the networked information economy is changing society and politics. On this basis, he is investigating how this debate promotes or threatens European cohesion and the ability of Europe to act, and which role foundations can play in this.
Matthias Spielkamp studied philosophy, politics and economics at Freie Universität Berlin, and also has a Master of Arts in journalism from the University of Colorado. He qualified for the certificate of the Stanford Internet Law Program at Stanford University. In 2004, he joined lawyers and journalists in establishing the organization "iRights", which among other things includes the online magazine "iRights.info". He received the Grimme Online Award in 2006. He writes as a journalist on subjects relating to copyright, Internet politics and digitization.
