Project description

Makis Mylonas is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.

Short biography

Makis Mylonas has been working with the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) since 2019. He has served both in the field of Maltese and Greek operations and, since 2023, as an Asylum Officer in the Quality Procedures and Tools sector at the EUAA headquarters. In this role, he oversees adherence to EU law and quality standards across operations.
In 2024, he completed his second Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence for Public Services from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and Politecnico di Milano. He is now expanding his professional portfolio in Artificial Intelligence, Digitalization, and Data Protection, both within and beyond the EUAA.
Previously, he worked as an Accredited Parliamentary Assistant (APA) in the European Parliament, supporting the work of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET). Before moving to Brussels, he served as a special advisor to the Mayor of Chios, Greece, during the peak of the refugee crisis.
Since 2008, he has also been active as a blogger and regular contributor to major Greek newspapers, including Kathimerini and Athens Voice. His writing focuses on the Eastern Mediterranean, particularly migration, Greek-Turkish relations, and EU enlargement.
In addition to his recent Master’s degree, he holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Athens and a Master of Public Administration from Leiden University in the Netherlands.
