Short biography

As a Mercator Fellow, José-Manuel Heinze explores inclusive approaches to ensure protection for refugees and displaced people in urban areas. José-Manuel has worked with marginalised urban populations in Honduras and gained hands-on experience at Transparency International and GIZ. He holds a Dual Master’s Degree from Sciences Po Paris and King’s College London in International Security and International Conflict Studies. Over the past year, José-Manuel has worked as a research assistant in the Professorship of Global History at the University of Potsdam where he has focused on the history of forced migration and humanitarian aid.
