Project title

Custodians of the climate? Climate change, conservation and the participation of indigenous groups

Short biography

During his fellowship year, Johannes Haas works on culturally inclusive solutions for climate change in the Amazon rainforest. Focusing on the intersection of development and international conservation, he gained experience with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Ethiopia, Friedrich-Ebert Foundation in Pakistan and as a consultant with joyn-coop in Munich. Most recently, he conducted research on market-based conservation in Vietnam with the Center for International Forestry (CIFOR) and WWF. Johannes holds a MSc in Natural Resource Management and a BA in Political Science and Geography after studying at Technical University Munich, in Bremen and in Bergen, Norway.
