Short biography

Elisa Oezbek, born 1983 in Homburg, Saarland, studied Political Sciences, Economics and Public Law with an international focus at Heidelberg University and as a Fulbright fellow in Boston. Additionally, she holds a Master of Science degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. During her studies and her international internships she had a comprehensive focus on strategic aspects of international security, especially in the field of non-proliferation and disarmament of weapons of mass destruction. As a Mercator fellow, she focused on the development of regional solution approaches and international strategies for non-proliferation and disarmament of nuclear weapons. Since 2013 Elisa Oezbek works as a political advisor at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
