Đuro Bokan is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.
Đuro graduated from Academy of Criminalistics and Police Studies in Belgrade in 2014 and has completed Master’s Degree in European Integration at Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade in 2017. During his education he finished a number of additional courses concerning the EU matters, in regards to the EU law, security, good governance and policy making.
He started working in the Ministry of the Interior (MoI) in the Republic of Serbia as Police Officer combating criminal offenses in 2014. Since 2017 he was working in the Sector for International Cooperation, European Affairs and Planning where he was involved in creating strategies for maintaining safe state’s environment in which democratic values should be respected. A lot of these strategies were the direct consequence of the European integration process and the activities undertaken within the Chapter 24.
From 2019 he was the Chief Officer for Cooperation with the EU in the MoI and he was deeply involved in the process of the EU integration. He was the Head of the Section for the Cooperation with the EU within the MoI. Further, for years he worked on the development, implementation and monitoring of implementation of the EU projects in the sphere of security, as well as on cooperation with international organizations and EU institutions and bodies in the field of EU integration.
Besides, he was the National Focal Point for Chapter 24 – Justice, Freedom and Security and a deputy member in the Coordination body of Government of Republic of Serbia for Chapter 23 – Judiciary and Fundamental Rights.
Since 2023 he works on the strategic planning matters within the Secretariat of the Serbian MoI in the rank of advisor (major).
Beside English and Serbian, he is fluent in Italian, French and Portuguese.
