The number of research institutions in Germany that seek in different ways to encourage reflection on the country’s foreign and security policy interests and options has risen considerably since the start of the new millennium. In the autumn of 2019 we were commissioned by the Robert Bosch Stiftung and Stiftung Mercator to conduct a study that would give an overview of the situation, while at the same time making recommendations for the work of think tanks, their target groups and their funders.
