Short biography

 

Yeliz Şahin is an EU affairs professional specializing on Turkey-EU relations and EU’s external action. As a senior researcher at the Economic Development Foundation (IKV), Yeliz is focusing on EU’s foreign, security and defence policy and EU enlargement. She has written extensively on the Cyprus question and EU’s engagement with the Western Balkans. She is also the coordinator and co-editor of the Foundation’s English-language monthly bulletin “IKV Monthly”. Prior to joining IKV, she worked as an intern in leading public institutions and NGOs in Turkey and Europe, including Turkey’s Directorate for EU Affairs, the International Crisis Group and the European Parliament. Yeliz holds a BA in International Relations from Bilkent University, Turkey and an MSc in Politics and Government in the European Union from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), UK. She was awarded the Jean Monnet Scholarship and Turkish Education Foundation-Chevening Scholarship for her post-graduate studies at the LSE.
