Thao Nguyen works in the field of German Development Cooperation. In her current position as a Country Manager at KfW Development Bank she is responsible for Türkiye, Kosovo and North Macedonia. Her work focuses on cooperations between the EU, the German Government and Türkiye in the field of social cohesion of Syrian refugees. On behalf of the EU, KfW e.g. implements jointly with Turkish partners projects for school construction, vocational training and youth and sport facilities for Syrian refugees. Another focus of her work is to support Türkiye in achieving its Paris Climate goals by promoting renewable energy projects. As an economist, she is responsible for the economic and political risk assessment of Turkiye.
She has gained profound experience within KfW in climate finance, project finance and private sector development in Southeast Europe and Türkiye, in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Prior to her work at KfW, she completed a postgraduate program at the German Development Institute in Bonn on “Trade policy and Agricultural Development in Senegal”. Previously, she studied Southeast Asian Studies, Sinology and Economics in Hamburg and Paris.
