Selen Eşençay works as an EU reporter and field producer since 2020 covering a wide range of international affairs, from US foreign policy to Russia and Turkish foreign policy. She writes, voices, edits, and produces news packages both in the field and from the newsroom, bringing global issues to audiences with clarity and depth.
Her core expertise lies in European Union affairs, with a particular focus on EU foreign policy, and the rise of right-wing politics across the continent. She currently works as the EU Reporter for Roundtable on TRT World, where she also pitches, produces, and voices lead stories. She also plays an active role in shaping Roundtable’s social media strategy from planning post formats to analyzing engagement and optimizing content performance. In addition, she brings in high-level guests to the show.
In addition to her journalism work, Selen also serves as a mentor for undergraduate and graduate students at Bilkent University and the College of Europe in Belgium. As part of official mentorship programs, she provides regular guidance on academic pathways and career development, supporting students as they navigate opportunities in international affairs and European studies.
Selen holds two master’s degrees — one in International Relations from Bilkent University, and another from the College of Europe in Belgium, where she studied on a full scholarship from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She is trilingual in Turkish, English, and French, and has moderated and hosted numerous high-level panels organized by the EU, NATO, and the United Nations.
