Matthias Heger studied Chinese Area Studies in Cologne and Dalian, China. He is fluent in Chinese and also worked and studied in Greater China for several years. As a consultant at an international business consultancy in Munich he realized a project to fund a Chinese forestry company. During his Mercator fellowship he focused on the project “Chances and risks of foreign investment into Chinese forests”. After his Mercator year he worked at the DEG in Cologne. Since 2013 Matthias Heger works for the GIZ in China.
