Project title

Sustainable peace in the Sahel between military intervention and grassroots demands

Short biography

As a Mercator Fellow, Josefine explores tensions between bottom-up peacebuilding and security-focused solutions in the Sahel. She is particularly interested in centring grassroots approaches to conflict resolution and sustainable peace. Previously, Josefine worked at UNHCR’s Regional Bureau for West and Central Africa and researched internal displacement in Burkina Faso at the University of London. Having lived in London, Paris, Dakar and Soweto, she is fluent in English and French and currently learning Arabic. Josefine holds a dual MA/MSc in International Affairs from Sciences Po Paris and LSE, as well as a BA in Politics and International Relations from SOAS University of London.
