Franziska Smolnik is an associate in the Eastern Europe and Eurasia Research Division of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), a foreign-policy think tank in Berlin that provides analysis and policy advice to members of the German Bundestag and the German government. In her work she focusses on current political and societal developments in and related to the South Caucasus countries as well as OSCE-related issues. Franziska holds and MA in East European Studies from Freie Universität Berlin and a PhD from Bremen University.
