Project description

Andrea Helfer is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.


Germany and the EU

Short biography

Andrea Helfer has been with the German Federal Chancellery since 2011. She advises on Germany’s European Union policy, including the coordination with other EU Member States, EU external relations and EU enlargement as well as issues related to the Council of Europe. Previously, she worked for the German Federal Foreign Office in its European Directorate General and as an adviser at the EU Delegation to the United Nations in New York in the framework of the Carlo Schmid Fellowship Program. At the age of 16 Andrea was awarded a fellowship of the Congress Youth Exchange Program and spent a year in the United States, deepening her early interest in matters of international politics. She holds a M.A. in Political Science from the Universities of Regensburg and Potsdam, respectively, and attended a program on Advanced European and International Studies in Nice. Her extracurricular course work includes studies with the Harvard University Extension School as well as at language universities in Beijing and Nanjing in China.
