Project description

Lenz Jacobsen is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.

Short biography

Lenz Jacobsen works as an editor and reporter for the politics desk of ZEIT ONLINE, covering Turkey, domestic and European refugee policies, and political protests. Lenz has reported on protests in Turkey (Gezi) and in Germany (Pegida and Blockupy), and travelled to Lesbos, Athens and the Syrian border to learn about the situation of refugees on the edges of Europe. Mr Jacobsen is a regular contributor to Internationale Politik, a magazine on international politics published by the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), and will become a ‘Journalist in Residence’ at the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB) later this year. He studied economics, political science and sociology at the University of Cologne and Boğaziçi University in Istanbul and wrote his diploma thesis on the Europeanization of Turkey’s migration policy.
