Relations between Turkey and the EU are at a critical juncture. After a decade of steady diplomatic efforts, events in recent months have creates a high level of uncertainty in terms of the future of these relations. What will happen to the relationship between Turkey and the EU in this unstable environment? What are plausible scenarios we could find ourselves in at the end of 2018? And what can be done today to ensure Turkey-EU relations are strengthened and developed into the future? Experts from Turkey and the EU met in Istanbul on October 7&8, 2016, within the opening of the Stiftung Mercator’s Istanbul Office. They developed four possible futures for EU-Turkey relations.
