Stiftung Mercator and the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS) hereby announce that, as of 1 September 2018, the President and CEO of MERICS, Professor Dr. Sebastian Heilmann, will be returning to his professorship at the University of Trier for familial reasons.
Within only a few years Professor Heilmann has built MERICS into one of the world’s leading think tanks in the field of China research. Stiftung Mercator owes Professor Heilmann a sincere debt of gratitude for his outstanding achievements as the founding director of MERICS.
Stiftung Mercator is seeking an outstanding individual to lead MERICS through its second funding period and next developmental phase (2019-2023).
Professor Heilmann will help with a smooth transition in the leadership of MERICS, actively support the new Executive Director, and remain closely associated with MERICS.
