Press release
Essen, 04/24/2015

From 1 May 2015, Kirsten Hommelhoff will take over as the head of Stiftung Mercator’s Mercator Centre Berlin (MCB). As director of the MCB, she will be a member of the Stiftung Mercator management team. In her new role she will report to Director of Communication Christiane Duwendag. Previously, Kirsten Hommelhoff held a number of positions at the foundation, most recently as head of the International Affairs division.
Since 2011, the MCB has been a place of creative exchange and collaboration between the foundation and its partners. At the same time, the MCB is where the foundation engages with societal developments that are relevant to it and its focal themes. In future, even greater use is to be made of the MCB to increase the profile of the foundation’s focal themes in Berlin, thereby playing an important part in terms of the foundation’s networking and positioning. As part of the Communication department, the MCB thus plays a central role in the communication work of Stiftung Mercator.
Executive Board spokesperson Wolfgang Rohe: “We are delighted to have found an outstanding director for our Berlin offices in the form of Kirsten Hommelhoff. With her experience, networks and personality she will make an important contribution to achieving our goals in the coming years, working together with the team at the MCB.”
