Project description

Iulia-Alexandra Oprea is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.

Short biography

Iulia-Alexandra Oprea is specialized in Turkish history and politics and has working experience in academia, journalism and youth work. She pursued a PhD at Sapienza University of Rome with a thesis on identity and alterity in contemporary Turkey. During her PhD she gave lectures about the EU-Turkey relations at Petru-Maior University of Targu Mures, Romania. As part of the European Forum Alpbach of 2017 in Austria, she participated as assistant on the “Turkey at the crossroads” seminar and in 2018 she worked on a project about active citizenship and democracy at Istanbul Arel University. Besides policy analyses and journalistic pieces – she has collaborated with Foreign Policy Romania-, she published several academic papers. She also has more than a year experience in youth work as coordinator of the YouthBank Mures program and is currently working on developing activities of the Society for Intercultural and Interdisciplinary Studies as founding member.
