Project title

The EU-Turkey cooperation on migration: migration control at the expense of human rights and refugee protection?

Short biography

Simon Rau obtained a BA in international relations from the Technische Universität Dresden in 2013 after completing a semester abroad at the Universidad Centroamericana in Nicaragua. In September 2014, he graduated with distinction from the University of Nottingham’s LLM programme in human rights law. His professional experience includes being the personal assistant to the Secretary General of the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights in Berlin and interning at human rights NGOs and the German Bundestag. As a Mercator Fellow, he will be working on the human rights impact of the EU-Turkey cooperation on migration and civil-society response strategies.
