Project description

Dr. Elise Massicard is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.

Short biography

Dr. Elise Massicard is a permanent research fellow at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique/ Centre d’Etudes et de Recherches Internationales, Paris. Prior to her current position, she has been a research fellow at the French Institute of Anatolian Studies in Istanbul, where she acted as the Director of the Observatoire de la Politique Turque. Her research focus is the political sociology of contemporary Turkey, including social movements, political parties, state-society relations, government practices, identity politics, and political territoriality in times of political change. Among many other publications she authored "The Alevis in Turkey and Europe: Identity and Managing Territorial Diversity" and co-edited " Negotiating Political Power in Turkey: Breaking up the Party". Elise has published extensively in academic journals and regularly speaks on conferences. She is a founding member and a member of the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Turkish Studies. Elise completed her studies in political science at Sciences Po Paris, in social sciences at the Free University Berlin, and in turcology at the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales, Paris.
