Project description

Lisa Hashemi is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.

Short biography

Lisa Hashemi is a civil servant in the British Department for Education where she works on the government’s flagship apprenticeships programme. She is also a board member of two charities: one focusing on strategic philanthropy in Britain and globally (Global Dialogue) and the other supporting community groups in the London Borough of Hackney (Hackney CVS). Before joining the British Civil Service, Lisa worked for a number of non-profit organisations. She was Programme Manager of ‘Ariadne – European Funders for Social Change and Human Rights’, a forum for collaboration between European grant-makers and philanthropists. She also worked with the Oxford Research Group’s Middle East Programme and gained work experience with the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV) in Istanbul. Lisa grew up in Germany and holds a B.Sc./M.Sc. in Media Studies from the University of Cologne and an M.Sc. in International Politics from SOAS, University of London.
