Short biography

Andreia Ghimis works as an EU legal affairs specialist at Fragomen. In December 2013 she began to work as a junior policy analyst in the Migration and Diversity Programme of the European Policy Centre (EPC), a leading independent think tank in Brussels. Her thematic focus includes the Common European Asylum System reform, the Schengen Area and the free movement of EU citizens, integration of migrants into host societies and the European strategy for legal migration. Since the beginning of the refugee crisis, Ms Ghimis has been closely monitoring EU efforts to create a comprehensive solution to the significant inflow of migrants on Europe’s shores – in terms of solidarity mechanisms envisaged by EU member states and collaboration with external partners, such as Turkey and the Western Balkan countries. Ms Ghimis holds a bachelors degree in public administration, a masters degree in European studies (Université catholique de Louvain) and a complementary masters degree in European law (Université libre de Bruxelles).
