Louisa Slavkova is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.

Short biography

Louisa Slavkova is a founding board member and the Director of Sofia Platform, a democracy promotion organization active in Eastern Europe and Europe’s Southern and Eastern Neighbourhoods. Before that she was programme manager at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR). There she supported the senior management in shaping the activities of ECFR’s geographical programmes. Louisa is a regular contributor to ECFR’s series Views from the Capitals where she writes on Bulgaria but also on the European neighbourhood policy and energy security related topics. In the past Louisa has been a political advisor to the Interim Minister for Environment (2013) and to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nickolay Mladenov (2011-2013). She has also worked for the German Federal Agency for Civic Education where she is still member of focus groups on civic education in the MENA. Louisa is a PhD candidate looking at what she is mostly passionate about – the intersection between democracy promotion and foreign policy.
