Project description

Kristen Biehl is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.

Short biography

Kristen Biehl is an anthropologist and sociologist specialized in migration research in Turkey. For the past 10 years she has been both academically and professionally intensively researching migration and asylum in Turkey, in connection with a number of different migrant and refugee communities, NGOs and public institutions. Ms Biehl has acted as lead researcher, coordinator and assistant for a number of international and national research projects. Her interests range from asylum policies in Turkey to urban society and space transformation through migration and diversification processes; she has published several works on these topics. Ms Biehl is completing her PhD at the University of Oxford’s Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology (ISCA) and the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS). She is also working on a comprehensive needs assessment for the EU about the situation of Syrian refugees in Turkey.
