Gökalp Babayigit is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.

Short biography

Gökalp Babayigit is a managing editor of the Süddeutsche Zeitung and Süddeutsche Zeitung Digitale Medien. In the newsroom he serves as a liaison between the newspaper’s print edition and its online edition, sueddeutsche.de. He is responsible for coordinating the joint news operations of both the print and online editorial staff, spearheading the latter’s news department, focusing on foreign and domestic politics as well as economic issues. Mr Babayigit also develops innovative news formats and social media publishing strategies for sueddeutsche.de. Before starting at the Süddeutsche Zeitung, he received a diploma in journalism from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München – in a degree programme on political science, communication sciences, sociology and history. Earlier he graduated from the Deutsche Journalistenschule in Munich.
