International Affairs

In a globalized world, international cooperation is the key to successfully overcoming societal challenges. The goal of the International Affairs Division is thus to increase mutual understanding and trust as the basis for cooperation across national borders. In our focal regions of Germany, Europe, Turkey and China we provide various target groups with a platform for intercultural and solution-oriented exchange.

In our Education Division we are committed to ensuring that all children and young people in Germany have access to extensive education and equal opportunities. The potential and strengths of each individual should be recognized, valued and fostered. The educational success that can be achieved as a result forms an essential basis for social participation and an autonomous life. Our activities aim to ensure that schools, as places of learning and living, provide the necessary scope for this to happen, and that educational policy and educational responsibility at the federal, state and local levels create the required framework.

Science and Humanities

“The Science and Humanities Division comprises the areas of science and humanities, and climate change. We promote science and the humanities with two objectives: firstly, we pursue activities in our cluster themes of Europe, integration and climate change, cooperating to this end with scientific institutions, civil society actors and ministries. Our aim is to support research into how the promotion of science and the humanities can be combined with the achievement of societal goals. Secondly, we want our work to have an impact on structural and institutional relationships in science and the humanities. We focus in particular on the framework conditions necessary for successful studying, regional cooperation between universities in the Ruhr region, and the interplay between science, politics and civil society. Furthermore, we actively promote “Muslims in education and society”.
