Centre for International Programmes

Whether in politics, business, civil society, media or administration, decisions simply cannot be taken in narrow national contexts nowadays. It is also of central importance for the individual sectors to be part of international networks if they are to successfully develop solutions to global challenges. This is why our International Programmes bring young leaders from all sectors together, allowing them to discuss topical issues of relevance to society.

Through our programmes and fellowships for young leaders, we support young people who are willing to take responsibility for the world of tomorrow. We accompany them on their path towards a career or give them personal development opportunities in training courses and seminars in international settings. We bring them together in innovative formats and create spaces in which people can share their thoughts and ideas about the pressing questions of our time. One important element in this context is also our Fellowship Programme, which allows us to gain new impetus for Stiftung Mercator’s work.

All our programmes provide participants with an opportunity to broaden their horizons and get to know people from different backgrounds. Our aim is to build up a thriving network of young leaders who think and act globally and who will drive forward and cultivate an exchange about Europe with Turkey and with China. This is also why we coordinate our work with alumni, this being relevant to all our programmes.

The work pursued by the Centre for International Programmes is for the most part operational in nature, meaning that the Centre is active in the projects itself. We focus in this context on providing programme participants with qualifications and opportunities for exchange and networking.
