Svantje Meer is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.

Short biography

Svantje Meer works as a political scientist for the Berlin Police where she analyzes the impact foreign conflicts have on the city of Berlin. Svantje studied Political Science with a focus on Euro-Mediterranean Relations in Berlin, Constance, Aix-en-Provence and Istanbul. For two years she worked at the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance managing civil protection projects in Tunisia. Her interest in human security was sparked by internships with the United Nations Development Program for Europe and Central Asia as well as with Helsinki Citizen Assembly in Istanbul. During a research project in Gaziantep she investigated the regional cross-border management of humanitarian aid and host communities’ coping mechanisms with the mass-influx of Syrian refugees. Svantje is also a fellow of the Global Diplomacy Lab and an active member of Women in International Security Germany (WIIS.de).
