Dr. Ștefan Cibian is the executive director of the Făgăraș Research Institute. Ștefan is an Associate Fellow with the Africa Programme of Chatham House, he is also teaching courses related to international relations and development at Babeș-Bolyai University and the University of Bucharest. In what concerns teaching and research, he is focusing on development and statehood in Sub-Saharan Africa and Central and Eastern Europe, CEE and EU – Africa relations, international relations theory, peacebuilding, democratisation, civil society, migration, and human rights. Ștefan is a board member of the Țara Făgărașului Community Foundation, ARCADIA, and the UiPath Foundation. Ștefan received his Ph.D. and M.A. from the Central European University. He also studied or conducted research at Babeș-Bolyai University, 1st of December 2019 University, the University of California in L.A., the University of Ljubljana, and Salzburg University.
