Sebastian Boll discovered his enthusiasm for international assignments while doing his alternative civilian service in Tanzania. He subsequently studied European and international studies in the Netherlands and Denmark, during which time he embarked on additional study and work trips to Mexico, India and Vietnam. He will use his fellowship year to address the problem of human trafficking in South-East Asia.
