He studies Turkish post-migrant theatre, that is to say theatre made by second and third generation migrants.

Short biography

Pieter Verstraete is a theatre scholar. He is a lecturer at the American Culture and Literature Department at Hacettepe University. From 2010 until January 2012, he was a full-time lecturer at the Drama Department in Exeter. Before 2010, he taught at the Theatre Department of the University of Amsterdam, as well as at the Cultural Studies Department of Radboud University of Nijmegen (the Netherlands). He also works as a freelance critic with a specific focus on Turkish post-migrant theatre. He holds a PhD degree from the Department of Theatre Studies (University of Amsterdam).
