Sustainability in global trade relations: Focusing on producers

Short biography

During his Mercator Kolleg Fellowship, Oskar Jönsson is taking a closer look at efforts around more sustainable value chains of agricultural commodities. Of particular interest to him is the role of private certification schemes and firm-driven projects in supporting farmers to produce more sustainably. Before starting the Mercator Fellowship, Oskar worked as an Advisor at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) on issues around trade & sustainable development in free trade agreements. Oskar studied environmental sciences at ETH Zurich and spent exchange semesters at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Tsinghua University in Beijing.
