Manja Kliese is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.

Short biography

Manja Kliese is a diplomat currently working as Head of the Crisis Response Centre at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany. She is the former Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy in Riga/Latvia. Her responsibilities include European affairs and trade relations. Manja has a special interest in European-Turkish relations ever since her first post brought her to the German Consulate General in Istanbul in 1999. She has also been working in different positions in Paris, Brussels and in the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin where she served as an assistant to the State Secretary of the German Foreign Office and as desk officer for the Middle East. Prior to coming to Riga, she led the consular department of the German Embassy in Beirut, organizing the resettlement of Syrian refugees to Germany. Manja studied in Paris and Berlin and holds a German-French M.A. in European Governance.
