Short biography

Dr. Lea Tezcan-Götz is a lawyer working as civil servant for the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg since 2016. She currently works at the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Integration. Prior to that she managed the Europe Direct information office of the European Commission in Hamburg (2010 – 2016) and worked as an adviser in the field of European environment and chemical law for the Bavarian Industry Association (2007 – 2009). She lived abroad in Fribourg (Switzerland), New York and Cyprus. Her PhD analysed the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights on the Cyprus Conflict, especially concerning the right of property of Greek Cypriots, and their negative influence on the political process of re-unification. Lea volunteers in the field of integration, equal opportunities, Europe and international relations. 2017 to 2020 she was president of the Tönissteiner Kreis, a network of leaders in business, academia and politics with international experience. The network promotes international debates to fortify Germany’s global outlook and its innovation capacity.
