Project title

Tackling youth unemployment – The facilitation of local entrepreneurial ecosystems through SDG-focused small and medium enterprises

Short biography

As a Mercator Fellow, Kareem Bayo addresses the concept of entrepreneurial learning and action as a means to enhance the professional development and the “labor market agility” of young adults in developing countries. Among other questions, he will focus on how to leverage the organizational capabilities and networking capacities of SMEs in this context. Kareem holds a BSc in Economics & Law from the University of Muenster and Seton Hall University and a MSc in Political Economy of Development from SOAS University of London. Kareem Bayo worked for KfW Development Bank, the German Delegation of Industry and Commerce in Nigeria as well as for a funding program of the German Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
