Project title

Geographic information systems (GIS) for planning health-promoting interventions in slums

Short biography

Julia Stricker studied medicine at the University of Zurich, with study and research stays at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris and at MIT in Cambridge (USA). She worked as a resident physician at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine of the University Zurich and at the Department of Neurology of the University Hospital Zurich, followed by a position as researcher at the Think Tank WIRE. Since 2013 she has been attending a postgraduate course in Applied History. She has a particular interest in urban health. As a Mercator Fellow, she will explore the potential of geographic information systems (GIS) for planning healthpromoting interventions in slums.
