During his Mercator Senior Fellowship Jean Pisani-Ferry analyses Europe´s global role within the context of international economic relations. The aim is to identify possible EU strategies on how to work with global economic partners and EU member states to find solutions for distribution problems of globalization.
Jean Pisani-Ferry is Senior Professor of Economics and Public Management at the Hertie School of Governance, and served as Commissioner-General for Policy Planning (2013-2017), reporting to the French Prime Minister and key economic advisor to Emmanuel Macron during his campaign. Pisani-Ferry helped found the Brussels-based economic think tank Bruegel and served as its director. He was previously Executive President of the French Prime Minister’s Council of Economic Analysis, Senior Economic Adviser to the French Minister of Finance, Director of the French international economics institute CEPII, and Economic Adviser to the European Commission.
