As a Mercator Fellow, Jan-Oliver focuses on the social, political and economic consequences of environmental policy. How can the costs of transformation towards a sustainable society be distributed fairly? In particular, Jan-Oliver analyses how market-based instruments of environmental policy can be complemented within and between economies under the premise of equity. Jan-Oliver studied Global Governance and Diplomacy at the University of Oxford as well as International Business at Lancaster and Reutlingen. He gained his first professional experiences with the OECD in Paris, the European Parliament and in public policy consulting in Vietnam.
