Project title

Improving Student Literacy as part of a Holistic Approach to Language Education

Project description

Irit Bar-Kochva has designed a computer-assisted program in Hebrew to improve literacy at secondary school level and thereby to support language acquisition among young adults as part of a holistic approach to language education. She intends to use her Fellowship to design and test a German-language version of the program.

Short biography

Irit Bar-Kochva has been a post-doctorate fellow at the IDeA-Zentrum (Individual Development and Adaptive Education) of Goethe University Frankfurt am Main since 2013. Prior to this she acquired her PhD at the Edmond J. Safra Brain Research Center for the Study of Learning Disabilities at the University of Haifa. Irit Bar-Kochva’s research concerns the analysis of reading processes and how they can be influenced by experimental designs. In her research she draws on her combined knowledge of psychology, linguistics and neurosciences. She publishes the results of her work in renowned international journals.
