Project description

Hilal Tekmen is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.



Short biography

Hilal Tekmen holds an MSc in Development Studies from the London School of Economics
and Political Science. Motivated by her interest in gendered violence, she addressed the issue of street harassment against women in Turkey and social media activism in her master’s dissertation. She received her BA degree in International Relations from Bilkent University, spending an exchange semester at the University of Groningen. Hilal has completed internships at the Sabancı University Istanbul Policy Center and Kadir Has University Gender and Women’s Studies Research Center. Between December 2016 and November 2018, she worked as a Project Expert at the Third Sector Foundation of Turkey (TUSEV) on the Philanthropy Infrastructure Development in Turkey Project. Her professional experience in project implementation includes research on and capacity building in the field of philanthropy and enabling environment for civil society organizations. Hilal joined the Kadir Has University Gender and Women’s Studies Research Center once again in December 2018 where she works as a Grants Specialist.
