Short biography

Hélène Bourdieu works as a policy officer at the Turkey unit of the European Commission Directorate-General Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR). She covers fundamental rights aspects in EU-Turkey relations, ranging from policy analysis in areas such as accession process, judiciary and political criteria, to stakeholder engagement and inter-institutional relations. Prior to joining the European Commission, Hélène worked as a speechwriter for the French Minister of State attached to the Minister of Defence. She also worked at the Secretariat of the Union of the Mediterranean under the Deputy Secretary General in charge of social and civil affairs where she focused on women empowerment across the Mediterranean region. Hélène Bourdieu holds Master’s degrees in Political Science and European integration from the Institut d’études politiques of Aix-en-Provence and the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
