Hasan Selim Özertem is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.
Dr. Hasan Selim Özertem is the Head of Research at the Ussal Consultancy, a government affairs firm providing services in Turkey and the CIS region. He has more than 15 years of experience in the think tank sector. He received his B.Sc. in Economics from Middle East Technical University, where he also completed his M.A. in Eurasian Studies with his thesis entitled “Russian Soft Power in the Post-Soviet Space.” He earned his Ph.D. in political science from Bilkent University in 2019 with his thesis entitled “Political Economy of Energy Sector Restructuring in the Post-Soviet Space: Russia and Azerbaijan in Comparative Perspective”. He is a Valdai International Discussion Club member and a Mercator Stiftung’s Turkey-Europe Future Forum fellow. His research interests are security, political economy, energy, elite politics, Eurasia, Russia, and Turkey.
