Project title

Addressing the impacts of climate change: how can finance for climate adaptation and resilience be improved?

Short biography

As a Mercator fellow, Fiona explores how the financing of climate adaptation and resilience can be improved, in particular in the context of recent developments within the financial sector regarding the measurement of physical climate-related risks. She is especially interested in understanding how investments in climate resilience from the financial sector can be scaled up, while still ensuring that projects are prioritized according to criteria of social and climate justice, and financing reaches the local level. Prior to the Mercator fellowship, Fiona gained experience at the 2° Investing Initiative, an independent, non-profit think-tank that works on aligning financial markets with the goals of the Paris climate agreement. Fiona holds a degree in Mathematical Physics (MSc) from the University of Edinburgh, as well in Environmental Change and Management (MSc) from the University of Oxford.
