Short biography

Dilek Yücel received her MSc. and BSc. in Computer Sciences at the Vienna University of Technology and obtained certificates in Project Management and Gender & Diversity Management. She is Alumna of the Ariane de Rothschild Fellowship Programme that enabled her to acquire in-depth knowledge in Innovative Entrepreneurship and Social Sciences at Cambridge University. Dilek acted for more than eleven years as a mentor in a youth organization that aims to include Muslim Youth in Austrian society. During her time as a science teacher at an Austrian public school, she was awarded with the Fairness Award by the Austrian Ministry of Education for her project “Inclusion 3.0” and was granted the Exceptional Honour by the Vienna School Board due to her effort to include pupils with migration background. Coming to Turkey in 2016, she worked as a Project Manager at the English-language broadcaster TRT WORLD, where she led among other things the first TRT WORLD FORUM. She then worked as an adviser at the Turkish Grand National Assembly in the field of Islamophobia and Turkish Diaspora in Europe. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in Political Science and International Relations at the Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University where she is also a Research Associate. Her academic interests include Islamophobia Studies, Muslim Minorites in Europe, Transnationalism, Systemic Racism, and Far-right movements in Europe.
