Food sovereignty – Supply with reproduceable seeds for West-Africa

Short biography

As a Mercator Fellow, David Hiss will develop a concept how West-Africa can supply itself with reproducible seeds. As a building block for a food-sovereign region, the access to an own food-plant genetic resource is essential. David gained his work experience in companies of the whole food value chain, in development cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and in strategy consulting. The focus of his work has always been the development of food value chains towards a more secure and resilient provision of food. David studied Economics (MSc, BA HSG) and International Affairs (BA HSG) in Freiburg and St.Gallen.
