Cultural Education for Critical Diversity Literacy

Project description

During her Mercator Senior Fellowship, Carmen Mörsch will primarily be exploring and critically analysing the “Critical Diversity Literacy” concept developed by Professor Melissa Steyn (University of Witswatersrand, Johannesburg). In this context, she will be developing formats and materials for the continuing education of disseminators of cultural education and artistic training. Her goal is to design the professional practice and spheres of action of teachers in a non-discriminatory manner

Short biography

Carmen Mörsch has been the director of the Institute for Art Education (IAE) at Zürich University of the Arts (ZHdK) since 2008. As an artist and cultural educator, she has been involved since 1994 in projects, publications and teaching for the purposes of producing and communicating art. From 2003 to 2008 she held a junior professorship in material culture and its didactics at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. During this period, Professor Mörsch was also responsible for providing academic support to art communication at the documenta 12.
